Aluminum Billet Producer Set to Begin Production in Q4

Matalco (Brampton, Ontario) plans to begin producing aluminum billet at its new Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., facility this fall despite delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the company told Fastmarkets AMM in early June.
Matalco, which broke ground on the $80-million, 110,000-square-foot facility last October, expects to hire 80 full-time workers to turn aluminum scrap into more than 230 million pounds of aluminum billet per year at the new facility, which it says is the first remelt facility in the upper Midwest. The company produces 6000-series aluminum and has four other plants, which are in Brampton, Ontario; Canton, Ohio; Lordstown, Ohio; and Bluffton, Ind. Visit
