China Releases Eighth Batch of Scrap Import Quotas

The Chinese government approved a new set of scrap import quotas June 16, its eighth set since July 2019.

The quotas allow an additional 5,840 mt of aluminum scrap and 1,570 mt of copper scrap—a modest increase from the amount of aluminum scrap allowed during the seventh set of quotas (1,480 mt), but a decrease in the amount of copper scrap allowed previously (10,423 mt). The government released no quota allowances for paper or steel scrap in this batch. Visit
