Recycler Will Convert Boat Shrink Wrap to Fuel

Brightmark (San Francisco) will accept linear low-density polyethylene boat wrap from marinas located in Indiana’s DeKalb, LaGrange, Noble, and Steuben counties following its successful completion of a pilot project, the company says.
Brightmark will partner with the Northeast Indiana Solid Waste Management District to facilitate the program, which will collect used plastic shrink wrap from boats removed from winter storage and transport it to Brightmark’s Ashley, Ind., facility. Brightmark will process the film using its proprietary chemical recycling technique. It will convert the LDPE plastic into ultra-low-sulfur diesel and gasoline blendstocks suitable for transportation fuel, which BP will sell in the Midwest, it says. Visit
