Algoma Steel (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario) partnered with producer responsibility organization eTracks Tire Management Systems (Oakville, Ontario) to remove and recycle 850 mt of the company’s end-of-life tires, eTracks says.
The tires’ size, which ranges from 3 feet to 12 feet in diameter, has proved challenging in the past, says eTracks, which managed and partly funded the project. The organization collaborated with haulers across northern Ontario to remove the tires and bring them to recycling facilities capable of handling the input, eTracks says. It reports completing the project in June. Visit etracks.ca
