ARA Criticizes Ford Program Termination

The Automotive Recyclers Association (Manassas, Va.) expressed its concern with Ford Motor Co.’s decision to terminate its lighting and bumper fascia core recovery program on June 1.

ARA says the move is indicative of Ford’s desire to cut into the remanufacturing sector of the market, noting that the company acknowledged in 2012 that its original equipment manufacturer parts could still be reused but that they have taken “every position to the contrary” to prevent reuse. Ford said it was ending the program due to the “administration burden” it placed on dealers and collision repairers. Visit
