Waste Management of Utah (Salt Lake City) has opened a new single stream MRF in Salt Lake City.
The $17 million, 50,000-square-foot facility can sort 35 tons of material an hour, 280 tons a day, and more than 71,000 tons a year, the company says. Its advanced sorting machinery includes rotating fiber screens, ballistic motion separators, 2D and 3D optical sorters, and barrel magnets, WM says.
WM designed the new MRF to support recycling in the Salt Lake Valley, including about 41,000 residential customers in Salt Lake City as well as communities and businesses throughout the surrounding area, it says. The new MRF is at WM’s existing transfer station at 3405 West 900 South. Visit www.wm.com/utah.
