Canadian Steelmaker, Recycler Create Quebec Joint Recycling Venture

ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada (Contrecoeur, Quebec) and Triple M Metal (Brampton, Ontario), have joined to form Integrated Metal Recycling, which will combine the recycling operations of some of the companies’ facilities in Quebec.

The company’s operations will comprise the four Legault Métal sites in Abitibi-Témiscamingue that ArcelorMittal Long Products Canada acquired in 2019 and Triple M Metal’s sites in Longueuil, Quebec, previously operated as Metrobec. The joint venture allows the ArcelorMittal facilities to purchase a wider range of scrap metal than it needs for its steelmaking, as it will process and add value to nonferrous metals as well, the companies say.
