  • China released its 10th batch of import quotas July 24. The batch allows 10,110 mt of copper scrap, 1,110 mt of aluminum scrap, 3,970 mt of ferrous scrap, and 56,650 mt of paper scrap to enter China, the Bureau of International Recycling (Brussels) reports.
  • RoadRunner Recycling (Pittsburgh) has raised $28.6 million to help fund its expansion in up to 10 new markets, including Phoenix, San Diego, and Austin, Texas, the company says. It provides collection, hauling, and recycling consulting services using proprietary scheduling software and contracts with local truck fleets.
  • Algoma Steel (Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario) partnered with producer responsibility organization eTracks Tire Management Systems (Oakville, Ontario) to remove and recycle 850 mt of the company’s end-of-life tires, eTracks says.
  • Stellar Industries (Garner, Iowa) celebrated 30 years of business May 9. The company, which says it was the first U.S. corporation to design and manufacture a hydraulic hooklift hoist, now offers a range of products, including cable hoists, container carriers, and service cranes.
