  • PreZero US (Los Angeles) is sourcing plastics Nos. 2-7 for mechanical recycling at its recently opened facilities in Jurupa Valley, Calif., and Westminster, S.C., the company says.
  • Despite coronavirus-related delays this spring, North Star BlueScope (Delta, Ohio) plans to continue the $700 million electric-arc furnace expansion, its parent company, BlueScope (Melbourne, Australia), reported in August.
  • A new understanding of the microscopic changes that take place when molten alloys cool could be useful for improving aluminum recycling technology, say researchers from the University of Birmingham and University of Greenwich in England.
