  • Citing negative market conditions and the COVID-19 pandemic, Grede (Southfield, Mich.) will close its automotive castings foundry in Columbiana, Ala., on Aug. 10 and lay off 94 employees.
  • Electric, hydraulic, and hybrid-drive equipment manufacturers Voith Group (Heidenheim, Germany) and Moog (Elma, N.Y.) have formed HMS—Hybrid Motion Solutions (Rutesheim, Germany), a joint venture they intend to expand the hydrostatic servo-hydraulics business in various industrial markets, the companies say.
  • In June, EcoStar (Holland, N.Y.) announced it has shifted some of its injection molding manufacturing lines from making recycled roofing products to making protective face shields for local hospitals and other essential workers.
  • The Indiana Department of Environmental Management will conduct a statewide recycling study to determine “where the gaps are in the state’s recycling infrastructure,” Indiana Public Media reported June 16.
